Clay,

One of our senior SeaPUG members, Robert Bernier robert7390(at)comcast(dot)net, does what you are asking about. Where he maintains two data warehouses in two different cities in a Master-Master relationship. He has given talks before about how to do the basic setup at SeaPUG, but it sounds like you could use a real in depth live demonstration on how to do this. Once this is setup, by the DBAs, then it is all normal SQL for the developers.

He would also be able to cover Backups, role creation, management , and "streaming replication" to hot standby servers that can be used in read only mode until they need to take over as the master server and then they become read/write.

Thanks for the reply Lloyd. When I signed up I must have missed the date :) I'm not going to be able to make it tonight, but I'll put the next one on my calendar.

I'm looking for training for a team of developers. Our DBAs here are just getting ramped up on postgres so we are having to do a little bit of learning around replication strategies, backups, role creation and management, etc. to help them out. But for the most part we are a data warehousing and BI team. We are responsible for getting data in and out of our warehouse. So ETL type patterns on the way in and large read operations mostly via apis on the way out.

Hopefully this helps you point me in the right direction. Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month.

Are you looking for Postgres DBA training or Postgres SQL Training. So before answering about the trainer, I would love to get more information to give you the best person possible.

Hey guys, I just signed up for this list so that I can get info on your next meet up. Until then I was wondering if you knew of any good training outfits in Seattle for postgresql. My team of 5 engineers just started using it and I'd love to send them to a trainer to get a couple days of deep diving.
Thanks.
