Because the symbols start with an underscore:
/* Define to 1 if your compiler understands _Static_assert. */
#undef HAVE__STATIC_ASSERT
There is apparently some inconsistency when symbols start with more than
one underscore.
But we don't need to introduce underscores that are not there.
