I've been using a similar connection to a PostgreSQL database
on a Linux box, and haven't seen degraded performance. In some cases,
it actually seems to perform better than an Access database on the NT
client. In any event, as long as you're using the April 2 version of
the PostgreSQL ODBC drivers, things should be OK. I haven't done
anything special to make this work better (given my cluelessness
about NT internals, I couldn't if I wanted to), but just followed the
instructions on the Pgsql ODBC driver website.
One possible explanation is that there is something wrong or
different about your NT boxe's network setup. You might try doing
FTP transfers or some other network test that uses lots of TCP
connections and transfers lots of data. Sometimes hardware manufac-
turers don't support NT as well as they support Win95/98, so it's
possible your network card's drivers are suboptimal.
