Position title- Postgres Database Administrator
Terms- 6 month contract to hire, must work on site in Orlando, relocation assistance available
Pay range- starting at $75k based on experience

Job summary

The Postgres Database Administrator is a full-time, salaried position with the Data Center infrastructure team in the Information and Media Department. Main responsibilities will include database infrastructure design, maintenance, automation and optimization in a production PostgreSQL environment. Other key responsibilities will include working with our in-house development team during the design, development and release phases. An ideal candidate will be committed to producing quality work and is open to working with and exploring emerging technologies.

Required Skills and Experience:
-Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience
-3+ years performing PostgreSQL administration in an enterprise, production environment
-Exceptional knowledge of the PostgreSQL database platform
-Solid background using UNIX operating systems
-Advanced SQL understanding
-Experience with the design phase of database driven applications
-Experience with installing, configuring, designing, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining database environments
-Experience with performance tuning, connection pooling, query optimization, data encryption, replication, backup/recovery, and clustering Experience with database optimization and scaling
-Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
-Ability to communicate effectively to varying levels of technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Skills and Experience:
-Understanding of automation and orchestration technologies (Chef, Puppet)
-Experience working with cloud based infrastructures (AWS, OpenStack, vCloud Director)
-Knowledge of ETL and ELT approaches and tools including bulk loading
-Storage Area Networks
-Monitoring and Alerting technologies
-Data protection strategies
-Version control

Additional information
Hours 8:30am to 5:30pm or 10am to 7PM - Available 24x7 in emergency situations. Occasional off-site work
