PostgreSQL and Greenplum Database Consultant Engineer

Location: New York City

Job Description

Work onsite at Pivotal¹s premiere financial service customers deploying,
consulting, advising and architecting both the Greenplum Database and
PostgreSQL database platform. Advise the customer on optimal deployment
strategies, provide support to the application development teams,
participate and or lead in performance tuning projects, advise and plan DBA
maintenance activities, participate and or lead in capacity planning,
troubleshoot and work with the Pivotal support team on urgent severity 1
service requests. Develop automations to help better manage the database
systems, some of the automations may eventually be released as part of
the product. Work with the Pivotal and customer teams on product enhancement
requests and specifications. Potentially contribute to product enhancement
features as time permits.

Required Skills

€ 3+ years experience with either PostgreSQL or Greenplum Database
€ Database internals theory and knowledge
€ SQL language theory and programming
€ Development in one or more of the following languages: C, Perl, Python
€ Linux or Unix experience
€ Desire to continue to learn more about database internals
€ Knowledge or experience with agile development methodologies
€ Excellent communication skills with a "can do" customer facing attitude
€ Team player

Nice to have Skills / Education:

€ Masters in Computer Science
€ Ability to read, modify and compile the PostgresSQL codebase
€ Server, OS and network performance and tuning
€ Ability to lead and coach a team
€ Experience working at a financial services enterprise
