When: 7-9pm Thu Nov 21, 2013
Where: Iovation
Who: Eric Hanson
What: Postgres at Aquameta

Eric Hanson is CEO of Aquameta (http://aquameta.com/) a software design
company here in Portland. They are about to launch their first product,
code-named Spacebase, a web programming IDE bundled into several new
PostgreSQL extensions. Their mission is to democratize computer
programming, and in doing so unleash the ingenuity of the planet to
communicate and collaborate through software in novel ways. They claim
that Spacebase radically simplifies the development of data-driven web
applications, to the point that almost anyone can do it, especially power
users like the spreadsheet community.

In this talk, Eric will talk about why Aquameta chose PostgreSQL, why they
believe end user programming is important for the survival of our species,
and then give a sneak peek at three new PostgreSQL extensions which should
be generally useful to developers.

Our meeting will be held at Iovation, on the 32nd floor of the US Bancorp
Tower at 111 SW 5th (5th & Oak). It's right on the Green & Yellow Max
lines. Underground bike parking is available in the parking garage;
outdoors all around the block in the usual spots. No bikes in the office,
sorry!

Building security will close access to the floor at 7:30.
See you there!
