Hello,
I won't stand for reelection. I've been on the board for something like 10
years, as co-treasurer for 2 years (with Jean-Paul Argudo as treasurer),
and another 8 years as treasurer (if memory helps). It's time for new
people to come in.
You may not know this but, if you're interested, you don't apply for a
specific role. You apply to be on the board. The first meeting of the board
will be to assign roles to all members of the board, though roles didn't
change a lot lately. You may end up president, or secretary, or treasurer,
or vice-something. Once on the board, the work to do is mostly
administrative, dealing with companies such as banks, insurance, suppliers
(for goodies for example), sponsors, venues, etc, making sure contracts are
good enough, paying suppliers, dealing with the accountants, bank managers,
insurance people. It's also making sure PostgreSQL European events will
take place. Obviously PGConf.EU, and the PGDay before FOSDEM, but also
PGConf.DE, PGDay Paris, Nordic PGDay. And then, there are a few more things
to do, such as preparing and handling the yearly elections, and the General
Assembly.
Though this may sound boring (and to be fully honest, it is from time to
time), I had a great time working with Andreas, Daniel, Dave, Gabriele,
Gülçin, Jean-Paul, Julien, and Magnus. Thanks to all of them.
So, here you go. We need someone new on the board!
PS : Of course, I'll stay a member of PostgreSQL Europe, and will help as
much as I can, especially during events (as staff or speaker or whatever ;)
).
