hi,
try this in pg_hba.conf ,
if the db is on the same machine:
local all all trust
if db is on another machine in the local network
host all all "ip_of_the_machine_to_connect_from" 255.255.255.0 trust
Afterwards you need to reload the server (SIGHUP or pg_ctl reload)
More documnetation you fin in the file pg_hba.conf.
You can find this file in the data_directory of your PostgreSQL-Installation,
default is /us/local/pgsql/data/
