Keep in mind that a gartner report is two things:

1. Marketing
2. Marketing

They aren't going to try and explain the difference between JSON or
JSONB. Heck, nobody is, people are interested in "JSON" not the
technical improvement "JSONB".

So in terms of recent, 9.2 with JSON support makes sense. It is also
still the "buzzword" that everyone is looking for.
