Still, when you operate your PostgreSQL server on a machine which cannot
connect to the Internet to check for updates, it will get outdated and
be lacking security updates in the long run.
Therefore, this is undesirable and not at all recommended.
Keep in mind that rough guesses say that about half of all attacks come
from inside organsations, and only the other half from outside.
Thus it's necessary to keep software safe and updated, even if the
system isn't connected to the Internet.
So you have to check manually, but regularly for updates (especially
minor updates!) and install them.
