Actually, the relationship between Ingres and Postgres is only through
the developers in the CS department at Berkeley, not through a sharing
of code. Somehow that has been described differently on occasion but we
have no evidence that sharing or inheritance took place, and instead
have direct statements from folks at UCB that the code base was
intentionally abandoned in favor of new approaches.

But a nod to Ingres' anniversary is certainly warranted! It was/is a
great step forward, and imho commercial Ingres stayed ahead of its
competitors well into the '90s.
