Lists: pgsql-general

Hello all,

I could have sworn that we had a thread on this not that long ago but 10
minutes of searching the list on Google has proved fruitless.

To make a long story short, I'm in the familiar scenario of having a
successful project on PostgreSQL that the business braindeads are
wanting to convert to SQL Server due to their unfamiliarity with Pg (aka
Fear of the Unknown). We (the devel team) feel that some real-world
examples of companies they may have heard of that are successfully
using/have used PostgreSQL would be helpful. Also, any real-world
examples of large-scale databases (i.e. Company XYZ has a XX Gig/So many
millions of records in their table/etc...) would be helpful. They'll
also be wanting to know the state of two specific things: 1.
replication, and 2. commercial support (even though we won't use it,
they'll sleep better at night if they know it's out there...I don't
pretend to understand them).

I've found the pages on the site that list the Projects, but it's a bit
unweildy to search (at least I'm finding it that way). I also see the
Commercial Support page, but for instance I look at the PostgreSQL, Inc.
page and see the last news item is from about 8 months ago. What's the
current status of replication and comm. support? In the USA, if that
makes a difference for the comm. support.

Thanks for the help, I'm fighting the good fight over here. =)

-Fran
