For what its worth, when I use the RPM:

readline-4.2-2.src.rpm <-- RedHat 7.2 RPM

instead of

readline-4.2a-2.src.rpm <-- Rawhide 1.0 RPM

all works well. I now have a nice readline-4.2-2.i386.rpm

Thanks a bunch,
