In my case, for the last two meetings (the previous one being cancelled) I was not able to make it. I didn't speak up to say I would not be there but I did not reply when asked for a head count.

I guess it's just in my nature to be a lurker whereas I peruse email lists and meetings to soak up as much info as I can. It also means that I am more stealth that interactive. I will pipe up when I have questions though. I bring this up just to point out what my expectation of the user's group (and the lists) is -- to garner info on postgresql.

Having said that and due to a job change, it's hard to say how many I can make these days but it seems that one a month is too many and maybe even one every other month is too many.

San Francisco vs. East Bay doesn't make a difference.

Depending on what has been planned for the meeting, I think taking a quorum count of who can and can't make it is a good idea. If this is done ahead of time this situation can be avoided in the future as meetings can be cancelled if the count is too low for the planned meeting. Also, if everyone knows how many are and aren't coming they can decide if they want to go ahead with the meeting as well.

Also, it seems that Josh has to pull teeth to get presenters. I liked it when someone (apologies for forgetting who) researched a new feature and presented notes. Performance advice is always welcome as well. But, people in their busy lives can't always do this on a regular basis.

What if the meetings were set up more formally but to occur less often? Like one a quarter or two or three a year. And, really do a who can and can't make it list to arrange the date. I.E. arrange the date around the most who *can* make it. Then, folks would also accumulate more info. that they can share.
