I'm forwarding a newletter from the PgUS User Groups Committee that has
some information about providing speakers to user groups like ours.

There is also additional information about a community conference in New
York coming up in December, PgUS annual members meeting and getting
invovled in PgUS.

Dear User Group Organizers - Here’s your August news!

1. The PgUS Annual Meeting is coming up on Thursday, August 19 at 1PM
US/Eastern time. What time is that in my time zone? [

If your users are PgUS members, they should have received an email with
more information; if they'd like to attend, there's still plenty of time
for them to join PgUS!

2. The Call For Proposals and Call For Sponsors is now open for PGConf NYC
[ December 2nd and 3rd, 2021 ] ! https://pgconf.nyc

3. Speaking of speaking: If you need speakers for your next Meetup (virtual
or in-person), or you're interested in presenting at other user group
meetings, please check out the Speaker Bureau:

We already have dozens of speakers there, and are always looking for more;
thanks!

4. As a reminder: If you have videos you'd like to share with the larger
Postgres community, we would be happy to add them to our YouTube channel;
please email us for additional information. If you haven't yet done videos,
please consider doing so; it is an easy and effective way of increasing
your outreach.

5. PgUS is updating its website. One of the changes is to create a page to
highlight the User Groups. Please send a short statement from each of you
about your group to add to the site. It doesn’t have to be fancy or
complicated:
*The name(s) of your organizer(s).
*Your group’s current status (only virtual meetings, hybrid meetings, etc.).
*Your meeting schedule (first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM Central Time,
for example).
*Any social media handles for amplifying your social media profile
*You can add any other information you think would be helpful, too.

6. The next joint meeting with the Committee and the User Group Organizers
will be Friday, October 1, at 9:00 AM Pacific Time.

Please add it to your calendar now, so you don’t lose track! If there are
items you would like to add to the agenda, please let us know. We’ll send
out a full agenda prior to the meeting.

7. The Committee is looking for new members! If you’re interested in
joining, please reply to this email with the following information:
*Current employer:
(We ask this in order to keep a good mix of companies on each committee,
rather than ending up with a lot of people from one company)
*Skills and experience you bring to the role:
*Any prior volunteer experience:
*What interests you about this particular Committee:
*Anything else you feel would be useful for us to know:
