Operating system: Windows 8.1 Update
Description:

Hello PostgreSQL Global Development Group Technical Support,

I am a Program Manager in the Windows Ecosystem team at Microsoft. My role
is to notify you when a compatibility issue has been logged against your
application while using Windows 8.1. Our goal is to work with you to provide
the best experience for our mutual customers by enabling DPI awareness.

This email is to notify you that PostgreSQL application was found to have
user experience issues on high DPI scaling factors during internal Microsoft
testing. New Windows 8.1 devices are now available and coming soon with
high-density displays that use 200% or 250% scaling on the Windows desktop
by default. We’d like to work with you to proactively address compatibility
issues which may occur in some applications when high DPI scaling factors
are enabled.

Compatibility Issue: Ref ID #229747
Product Name: PostgreSQL Version 9.2.1
Repro Environment: Windows 8.1 Update x86/x64
Description of the Problem: The text box and browser icon is overlapped
while installing the application at 200%/250% DPI scaling

Detailed Steps to Reproduce the Problem:
Prerequisites:
Steps to enable DPI scaling:
1. Open Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Display
2. Select “Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays”
3. Select “Custom sizing options”
4. Select the desired scaling
5. Sign out and sign back in to apply the scaling settings

Repro Steps:
1. Apply 250% DPI Scaling
2. Install the application
Actual Results: The text box and browser icon in the setup window is
overlapped while installing the application at 200%/250% DPI scaling
(Please refer to the attached screenshots)

Tester/Developer Notes:

Additional guidance is available on the Windows Dev Center at High DPI for
desktop apps in Windows 8.1. Here you will find a list of the changes in
Windows 8.1 and additional resources and tutorials for applications that
shine on high DPI displays.

If you are not the appropriate contact for this issue, please connect us
with that individual as soon as possible. Please let me know if you have any
questions about the issue referenced above. Thank you for your continued
engagement with Microsoft.

Sincerely,

Seiko Ishida | PROGRAM MANAGER
