I am confused by the word "degradation". You mean that Postgres 9.1
used 3x more memory than PG 9.0? How much slower was it?

We have certainly never heard of a report like this between PG 9.0 and
9.1, so I am confused. Was their any change in the client interface
software between the two tests?
