Hi everyone

The statutes of French speaking PostgreSQL Association ( PostgreSQLFr ) have
been translated. You can find them here :

http://wiki.postgresqlfr.org/doku.php/statutes

Thanks to people who helped me in this translation work.

So this is what the PostgreSQL Europe statutes would look like if it were
based in France.

Pleased note that this translation is not 100% accurate, but it gives a
pretty good idea of how the association works : Basically the association is
managed by 3 entities : General Assembly , Board Of Directors, Executive
Committee. Members of the association cannot earn money from it . The General
Assembly has to gather once a year, etc. etc. etc. This kind of statutes is
very common in France.

Speaking on IRC with Andreas and Robert, it seemed a good idea to used this
translation as a starting point to write the statutes of PostgreSQL Europe.
So we propose a wiki page dedicated to these new statutes, in order to make
it easier for anyone to get involved in the collaborative writing of this
document :

http://wiki.postgresqlfr.org/doku.php/pgeu:statutes

This work has not begun yet. Please don't hesitate to log into the wiki and
edit the statutes or the discussion page :

http://wiki.postgresqlfr.org/doku.php/pgeu:statutes_discuss

Among the few things that need to be changed , here's what we identified :

* we must specify that English is language of every meetings, mails , etc.
* pgfr statutes are sometimes a bit complicated , we should rewrite them
with the "Keep It Short & Simple" philosophy :-)
* Keep in mind that the statutes will be re-translated to french and that
only the french version will be legally binding
* have a look to Mozilla Europe statutes which are close to what we want to
do ( http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/about/statutes )

Ok now before we start the collaborative writing on the wiki page : Is
everyone ok with that proposition ? do you have any objections ? does the
method of collaborative writing seems a good idea to you ? or not ?

Please don't hesitate too send any comments or questions during this creation
process !
