can anyone provide a general primjer on pgsql
encoding?

i think i set my db up as ascii encoded. is this
optimal for an english language db? my online host
wants to default to latin1... which seems to support
english also.

with so many choices, i'm sure problems lurk around
every corner.

tia for any advice and background you give me, and
other newbies, so that we can encode our db correctly
based on our design criteria.
