Hi,

We are in need of a senior PostgreSQL DBA.
This is a contractor role here at our Dana Software Inc. offices in San
Jose, Ca.

Here is the job description:
Document the current database design. Each table, view and procedure needs
to be described. The database integrity constraints must be explicitly
documented.
A description of every transaction that the database supports must be
maintained.
The design documents should show that every transaction maintains documented
integrity constraints in typical concurrent use.

Write designs for planned enhancements to the database design. The
designs describe changes to the database schema and data conversion
procedures required to install the database modifications.

Create procedures to backup and restore each database. These procedures
should be documented well enough so that Operations, QA and Development
can perform them with out assistance. Provide some means for user and
form definition data to be migrated to other PostgreSQL servers.

Keep all database code in CVS, tagged to match the the software
release. It should always be possible to re-install any historic
release of the software, using the database schema that was current at
that time. Monitor and benchmark the performance of the database. Perform
query
optimizations as required to insure the system meets responsiveness
requirements. Create and maintain a database test suite. The tests should
show that
the data base that the database remains consistent after heavy concurrent
load.

Provide custom reporting queries, on request. Coordinate software upgrades
with operations and development. Be available for production support during
during the regular operating hours.
