I can't reproduce this problem either. I tested HEAD and 9.1 branch tip
on my Mac laptop, using what appears to be the same compiler version
that David is using, as well as the Apple-supplied perl:
$ which perl
/usr/bin/perl
$ perl -v
This is perl 5, version 12, subversion 3 (v5.12.3) built for darwin-thread-multi-2level
(with 2 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

I wonder whether David is using some other perl ...
