The current plan was to do feature freeze around may 15th, with beta
starting june 1st. However, there is a debate currently on -hackers
whether to extend the deadlines to allow for some features to be
completed, or whether to push those features back a release. Once a
decision is made I'm sure something will be posted in the newsgroups
(and it'll be in the weekly news for sure).
