Hi,
We are considering migrating over to Postgres on a Sparc Ultra 10 with 512M
RAM running Solaris 2.6. The thing that is hanging us right now is that
from what we understand a new process is started for every connection made
to PG. The thing is these processes eat up about 3.5M of memory each. We
need a possible 200 of these connections to the database. Is everything I
am seeing and thinking correct? If so that would mean that it would require
700MB of RAM just to run PG. That seems like a bit of a strain on a system
for that few database connections.
Any suggestions?
Brian Moon
