From the documentation:http://www.postgresql.org/docs/7.4/static/postmaster-start.html#CLIENT-CONNECTION-PROBLEMS"psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused
Is the server running on host server.joe.com and accepting
TCP/IP connections on port 5432?This is the generic "I couldn't find a server to talk to" failure. It looks like the above when TCP/IP communication is attempted. A common mistake is to forget the -i option to allow the postmaster to accept TCP/IP connections. "

Subject: [NOVICE] pgAdmin Connection
After finally getting pgsql to operate in basic mode, I've hit a snag with pgAdmin3:
**Error connecting to the server: could not connect to the server: Connection was refused (0x0000274D/10061)
Is the server running on host "127.0.0.1" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432?**
Does pgAdmin still require that I install a seperate odbc program? If so, where do I get it?
Do I need to assign the environment variables like PGDATA and PGHOST?
TIA
