Hi,
Background :
===========
I am just a user of Windows and am trying desperately to make a career in Software. The only thing that I am trying to concentrate on is making fundamentally good small-time applications on VB in the front-end and a very stable back-end.
I have been a member of the Postgres mailing lists for about a month now and so far as I have learnt out here , it is only the fact (besides others) that a) Windows is unreliable and b) SQL Server is unreliable.
That is why I am trying to ensure that my applications work on Linux as the back-end at least because I am in India, where Windows owns virtually the entire country... well, at least 98% of the small-timers, who are not into high-end solutions, which is effectually my target-audience.
The only way I can make a mark is by providing cost-effective solutions, that is why I intend shifting to Linux / FreeBSD and Postgres.
Problem :
========
Though I found extensive documentation on the Postgres web-site for Postgres, where can I get a similarly extensive docket for Linux... please... including how to make linux behave as a server for Windows clients... remember, that though my targets may not mind taking Linux for server, getting Linux on the desktop would be impossible for them.
Thanx a lot in advance,
Kapil
