PostgreSQL, Inc. and BrowseX join Westcoast Interchange at Oracle
OpenWorld

What have open source PostgreSQL, the Tcl based browser BrowseX have in
common with Westcoast Interchange, one of western Canada's leading Oracle
Certified Solution Partners?

That seems to have been the question on the minds of dozens of visitors at
the Westcoast Interchange exhibit today, here in San Francisco at the
Oracle OpenWorld show. PostgreSQL is fast becoming the standard solution
for individuals and companies who want the performance of a full scale
database, without the high costs of equipment and licensing that are
associated with offers by Sybase, Informix, and others.

Oracle remains the defacto standard for companies with the budget for
advanced database applications and PostgreSQL nicely meets the needs for
companies who are trying new things, or don't yet have the IT budgets to
make a larger investment in architecture and systems. Westcoast
Interchange is proud to be the first PostgreSQL, Inc. Partner that offers
clients the best of both worlds, and the opportunity to move data between
both platforms. Joining Westcoast Interchange as guests were PostgreSQL,
Inc. CEO Geoff Davidson, President Marc Fournier, Director Thomas
Lockhart, and global project member Vadim Mikheev of SectorBase. Visitors
were introduced to the prototype of an open source CRM, PgPICK,
co-developed by Westcoast Interchange, PostgreSQL, Inc., and Media Brokers
International.

Those developments have Westcoast Interchange actively seeking the best in
new talent from programming capabilities to business partners. "The
OpenWorld show is a target rich environment, with many of the
best and brightest business and database companies here to participate",
commented Mr. Doug Pelton, President of Westcoast Interchange.

Also at the booth during the show is Peter MacDonald founder of BrowseX Systems Inc.
Mr. MacDonald is demonstrating BrowseX, an exciting open source web browser. The
beta version of BrowseX was released last week and has already been receiving rave
reviews on the Linux and Tcl newsgroups. BrowseX is designed to operate across most
systems including Unix, Windows and Macintosh.

This is the beginning of an extended offering for corporate clients and
their customers. Complete turnkey solutions that take advantage of
Westcoast Interchange's unique ability to get even the most burdensome
projects off the ground by partnering with the leading contributors to
these new technologies. WIE's theme for the show is Heavy Lifters, aptly
chosen to promote both technical experience and the ability to connect the
open source and commercial markets by forming strategic alliances before
others even see the fit.
